The Players Band is an 8-piece ska band formed in Baltimore in 1999. The Players' musical style combines ska, rock, and reggae, and is characterized by the use of upbeat horns and percussion. The band has played over 315 live shows in various states, including; Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington, DC, New York, Delaware, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Virginia. The Players have performed with acts such as Grammy Award Winner Toots and the Maytals, The B-52s, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Joe Strummer, The English Beat, Third Eye Blind, Citizen Cope, Fishbone, The Toasters, The Skatalites, The Pietasters, The Aggrolites, The Slackers, Big D and the Kids Table, The Know How, King Django, The Scofflaws, Westbound Train, Eastern Standard Time, Junkyard Band and many others. Notable ska musicians who have performed on stage with The Players Band as guests include; Jeff Richey (The Toasters), Buford O’Sullivan, Vinny Noble (Pilfers & Bim Skala Bim), Dr._Ring-Ding, Morgan Russell (Eastern Standard Time) and H.R. (Bad Brains).

Background:
Dan is a self-taught guitarist, singer, and songwriter. His first love was the drums, which he learned at a young age through school and his brother Andy (The Players drummer). Dan has performed with The Mobtown Beat, The Unidentified, and Mount Saint Joe’s symphonic band (as a percussionist). He has also sat in with Vic Ruggerio (The Slackers), The Scofflaws, ex-members of The Pietasters, The Stubborn All-Stars, and Skinnerbox. .

Background:
Andy has been playing drums since he was about eight. He has performed with such groups as The Mobtown Beat and the Baltimore Colts/Ravens Band. Andy works for Legg Mason Capital Management in Baltimore. Andy has an M.B.A. from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.

Background:
Mike has been around music his whole life. He started on piano, but soon became interested in the saxophone. He made the switch and has been playing the saxophone since about the age of ten. Mike graduated from Calvert Hall High School, where he played in the top musical ensembles, and also made the Catholic Honors band for Jazz and Concert. Mike is a grad of the University of Maryland College Park.

Background:
David began playing brass instruments in the fifth grade, at which time he sounded like a damaged B-17 taking off. He's improved some since then. Now when he sounds like a damaged B-17 taking off, it's on purpose. It's 'artistic'. He gave up the lucrative wedding band lifestyle to join the players: the result being that he doesn't get to see as many hot bridesmaids, but he respects himself more.

Background:
 When you see and hear Nick play it is clearly obvious why he is a part of The Players. So, needless to say, Nick is a phenomenal musician. Nick is a graduate of Towson University with a B.S. in Music Education (Concentration in Jazz Performance). His talent has graced bands such as Mobtown Beat, Junkyard Saints,  and Unprovoked Moose Attack. Currently, Nick is a Trumpet instructor at Friends School for Trumpet Instruction, Music and Arts Centers (Laurel, MD), and Coffey Music (Westminster, MD).
